Chamber Joins Community Leaders to Celebrate Milestone in Neel’s Lofts Development
On Thursday, May 14, the Greater Macon Chamber of Commerce joined local leaders, developers, and residents in celebrating a major milestone in downtown Macon’s revitalization: the ceremonial beam signing for Neel’s Lofts. This transformative infill construction project in the heart of Macon’s Central Business District will bring 95 luxury lofts, two retail spaces, a restaurant, and a coworking hub to the corner of Cherry and Third Streets.
“This is more than just a construction milestone—it’s a vision taking shape,” said Robbo Hatcher of H2 Capital, developer of Neel’s Lofts. “Downtown Macon is vibrant and growing, and we’re proud to contribute to that momentum by delivering a high-end residential experience that brings more people into the district to live, work, and enjoy everything our community has to offer.”
The Greater Macon Chamber of Commerce was proud to stand alongside NewTown Macon, H2 Capital, Piedmont Construction Group, and other community stakeholders to mark this momentous occasion. The energy surrounding the event reflected the shared commitment to building a stronger, more prosperous Macon-Bibb County.
NewTown Macon President & CEO James Fritze emphasized the importance of projects like Neel’s Lofts in fueling economic growth downtown. “We have a goal of adding 350 new loft units to our Central Business District by 2027. With 95 of those coming from Neel’s Lofts alone, this project plays a major role in reaching that target,” said Fritze. “Our latest residential market study confirms that for every 15 new loft units, enough income is generated downtown to support a new storefront. That’s how housing fuels our local economy.”
As Macon-Bibb continues to grow and attract new residents and businesses, projects like Neel’s Lofts are pushing our community closer to being a city to contend with—not just in Central Georgia, but across the state. With each new development, Macon’s position as a vibrant, innovative, and economically dynamic alternative to Atlanta becomes clearer.
The celebration concluded with attendees signing the final steel beam to be installed in the building—leaving their mark on a project that will help shape the skyline, and the future, of downtown Macon for generations to come.
